On Wednesday morning (15 June) at Prime Minister’s Questions, David Cameron heard a message that had been sent out a long time ago to him and his fellow MPs. But it appeared he had not fully appreciated its importance or relevance until Ed Milliband asked a question, prompted by research from the Macmillan Cancer charity. When clients are like cats…but don’t purr

When is PR, writing and general consultancy like sharing your life with a cat? I asked this question some time last year.  My answer was that clients are actually like clients most of the time.  Many people got back to me and agreed – many of them were not consultants like me, but I reckon the analogy works best if you’re a consultant working in the service sector.

I’m reminding you again, because, let’s face it, clients can be like cats and both of them have made it clear to me in the past 48 hours or so.  (more…)

PR: it’s not rocket science

Making money is not easy these days. Margins are being cut as costs rise, clients in all sectors of society and business are demanding more for less.  Some of for them for unscrupulous reasons, others simply because they are squeezed themselves. We all have to adjust. So, it is refreshing to see some simple, straightforward advice from David Brain of Edelman, a business leader that quite rightly argues that things need not be that complicated.
